It's here!

Good morning all

Well as you can  tell I'm feeling excited as my new craft desk has arrived. Poor old Mr B wasn't quite so excited to have it here as he has had to put it up.

My pics show the job of sorting in order. As you can see it is a lovely big desk and has a ton of storage. It came with three canvas boxes which are really big. I soon filled it up as you can see. My ebosser has a space just made for it. My last pic is of my gorgeous bag my parents bought me for Christmas. I absolutely adore it. As my craft room is upstairs from my living toom I intend to use my bag to keep projects in that I can do downstairs when Mr B is at home in the evening.

Anyway as you've probably guessed I'm having a crafting day today. Hope you all have a good day. Be back soon...Lea x

Birthday cards

Good morning all

Hope you are all keeping well this morning. I've had a very strange few days really. I've been sorting a ton (ok slight exaggeration :) ) of paperwork that has accumulated over the years. My boy moving out has forced me to get my shredder out. I now have even more space. I am just waiting for a delivery of my new desk - I am so excited! In the meantime I am still working in the living room.

While sorting out I've come across lots of kits I bought at the beginning of my crafting journey. As I've been crafting for a whole two years now I hopefully have other ways of making them a little bit more interesting. I made a few cards yesterday in between shredding so I thought I would show one of those today. The card is made using components from Hunkydorys Midnight Elegance kit. This kit had lots of black in it. I used some of the card from it as a backing paper - I ran it through an embossing folder called Trellis by Couture Creations which is quite difficult to see in the photo. Then I used a topper and a sentiment along with pink ribbon and gems to finish it. It has turned out quite a pretty card.

Well I'm off now. I'm having a crafting day today. Hope to catch you again tomorrow ....Lea x

Craft room

Good morning fellow bloggers

I hope you are all well this cold Monday morning. Well I have no card to show this morning as I have had a busy few days moving my son out to his new home (all is very quiet here with just me and Mr B). He is all settled so I spent yesterday moving into my new craft room formerly known as his bedroom. I had to give it a bit of a spruce up first then spent about four hours moving all my crafty goodies from three different rooms in the house (living room, drawer under my bed, all the drawers in our spare bedroom). I must admit I'm paying for all the up and downing of the stairs today (ours is a three storey house!).

Anyway here are some pics of the story so far. All is stored very tidy for now - how long will it last?

Sorry about the darkness of the pics. They were taken last night when the light wasn't good. I might try to retake them later.

I don't have a desk area yet. I am undecided as to whether to have something off the peg or whether to get Mr B to build something in. Watch this space...if anyone knows of anywhere in the UK that does great desks I'd be interested in hearing about them. I'm thinking that I want quite a long work area. The room is a double bedroom so I have lots of space to fill.

Right I'm off now. I have a little bit more sorting to do. May catch you later, have a good day....Lea x

Moving out!

Well hi out there fellow bloggers

I can't believe it - my last little fledging is fleeing the nest tomorrow. I love him loads but I am really looking forward to moving into the Darby and Joan era. Not only that, I'm excitedly looking at what I need in my new craft. Any suggestions?

My card today uses an image from the Fabulous Fashion CD. The papers and images from this CD always print well - very clear. I decoupaged the image and added gems to it. I backed the papers onto blue mirri board then added ribbon and lace across the card. I finished with a lace bow through which I put a pretty brad.

Well I'm off to my bed now. I'll catch you again soon...Lea x

Handbags

Hi everyone

Well it's a strange time of night to be writing a post but I'm awake and I thought 'why not?'  I'm surprised I'm awake as I spent all day catching up with my ironing. Gosh I hate ironing. It takes ages as it builds up so quickly and because of the fibro I have to do it it in dribs and drabs otherwise it wipes me out. Still it is done...for a while at least (grins like Cheshire Cat).

My card today turned out to be very simple. I've had a template I printed from a CD and cut out for a handbag. I've been meaning to have a go at this for a long time. This was going to be a practice one but it turned out really nice so it's a keeper!

There are three parts to the template. I used the first template to cut the card into the bag shape. I used a piece of A4 card folded in half. The top of the template needs to be placed on the fold. I then drew around it. I used large scissors to cut it out - this is not my favourite part of cardmaking. I covered this with flowered papers from LOTV. I then used a second template to do the bag 'opening' and a third for the handle. These were both covered with paper from LOTV (a good way to use up smaller left over pieces of patterned papers) and cut out. In my stash I found a couple of flowers I coloured and cut out a long time ago (I seem to have my 'use up old bits and pieces' head on this week coz I've used loads). I finished with a little lace and one gem. As I said it was extremely simple.

We'll I'm off to bed now. Until next time....Lea x

Mothers Day card!

Mothers Day

Hi all

Yes I know it's too early for Mothers Day card but the card just turned out this way! I stamped my background with my Inkydoodles Argyle stamps. I used brown and green with the intention of this being a male card. I'm still not sure how I got here...

I backed this onto a brown mirri card. My image is a LOTV one which I love. I coloured her and my sentiment with my promarkers. I cut her out with one of my fave SB dies. I inked through the die to get the shading round the image. I added some handmade flowers, ribbon and gems.

Well I'm off again. A crafty afternoon here I come...Lea x

What to do today...

Good morning everyone

What a beautiful day it is outside today. I hope it's as lovely where you all are.

Well I'm definitely on a roll with my card making at the moment. I had a head start with this card. I've had this image coloured and die cut for months and the card base was already backed with mirri board and ribbon as it was the start of a card I never finished as I didn't like the colour. Well it just happens to be perfect with this image. I added a paper from a LOTV pad - that's also where the stamp came from. I put a little lace across too. I stamped some flowers and cut them out and shaped them (I'm a bit of a novice at this but hope to get better as I've just got some majestic bloom stamps which had a SB die to cut them out). I die cut some butterflies and swirls from SB and finished by adding some pearls

I feel as though I haven't got enough hours in the day at the moment even though I'm at home all day. Thing is with the fibro it's a bit of a struggle to get up in the morning as I don't sleep well. Then I'm a bit slow getting moving and then half my day is gone! Woe is me :). Still I am thankful for my crafting - it makes me happy - and I'm thankful for my crafting buddies out there in Blogland. I take pleasure in seeing what you're all up to too.

I'm off to make myself decent now and see what I can conjure up this afternoon...bye for now...Lea x

Cogs in black

Hi all

Well I said my mojo was back. Ideas are queuing up in my head but am having to concentrate on my February male birthday cards first. Hence I've decided to do a similar colour to my last blogged card. I used my embossing folder again - this time white card and inked with black. I stuck with just silver and black and added the screws again.

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:

Hope you like it....Lea x

Cogs

Good morning everyone

I hope you're enjoying a good start to your weekend. I'm going to have a crafting day while Mr B watches the football. I've just been discussing with him what I'd like in my craft room after the last of my kids flies the nest next week. Although I will be sorry to see him go I am getting pretty excited. The thought of being able to spread myself out and not having my trimmer balancing on the arm of the sofa is just great!

I've got a male card today to show you. It is very shiny as I used lots of different mirri board. As male cards go I am actually pretty pleased as I always say how hard I find them to make. I backed red mirri board onto black card and wrapped round some bakers twine. I then put silver mirri in a SB embossing folder through my ebosser   - I can't remember what it's called but it has cogs on. I then used black ink to dampen down the shininess. I used SB dies to cut out the cogs and mixed them onto each other fixing them with screw brads. I'd be very interested to know what people think. I finished it off with a little tag with a sentiment on.

I'm off now. I've had a lovely parcel arrive today. I'm excited to go and have a play. Until next time....Lea x

Swinging

Hi everyone

Here we are again. Once again I have no idea where the day has gone. I might be at home all day (I don't think I have mentioned that the doctor has signed me off sick until the end of March) I have no idea what I have done. I did make a card which I'd like to enter into the following challenge:

http://pennyschallenges.blogspot.co.uk/ - embellishments.

I used a topper that I coloured with promarkers many moons ago. The image is from LOTV. I matched my paper with the colours already used. For Christmas I had the wonderful ebosser so used it to emboss some cream paper. I heat embossed a Happy birthday sentiment. Some lovely flowers, pearls and a bow finished it off. My base card is craft card. I've never used this before but I like it a lot.

Well that's me off for now. Until next time...Leax

It's back!

Hello, hello, hello everyone.

Yes I am so excited! My mojo has returned home to me. It's about time - it's had a long enough holiday. I've actually been able to make a card in one sitting.  I'd like to enter it into the following challenge:

http://pennyschallenges.blogspot.co.uk/ - embellishments

My card is made using a decoupaged image from the Fabulous Fashion CD. I'm not much of a CD crafter but on the odd occasion a CD catches my eye and this is one of them. This is only the second card I've made from it as I'm very begrudging of my ink but I get the feeling it will be seeing the light of day more often. Also when I get my craft room I will have everything set up just to switch on (a bit more difficult working on my lap).

I started by mat and layering two different shades of purple mirri card and then added a third layer of cream card embossed with a dotty folder using my superduper ebosser. Just off track a minute is anyone else finding they really have to play around a bit with the plates according to the dies? It tells me one thing in the instructions but sometimes spits it back out and I have to change it a little. It's not a problem - I do love it!

Anyway back to my card. The topper and pieces were printed onto cream card and I lovingly (?) cut them out (I find this quite difficult as I have a horrendous tremor in my right arm) and used pin flair glue to decoupage the image. I also stamped my sentiment and used a tonic die to cut it out. I used ribbon and lace down the side and put a lace and ribbon bow on with a pearl brad through the middle. I just finished with pearls and gems. I must admit I am pretty pleased with the card.

I am off to get on with my next creation. I have four male cards to make now (groans loudly) and I'd better do it whilst I'm feeling so positive. Bye for now all. Happy crafting....Lea x

Cake

Hello out there fellow bloggers - I hope this finds you well.

Well so much for me becoming a better blogger - it has been a few days yet again. My mojo had deserted me too even though I have a ton of cards to get ready. But I have promised myself onwards and upwards.

I've made a card for my BIL.

used a cake stamp I've used before that I got as a freebie a couple of weeks ago. I paper pieced the cake with paper matching my backing paper. I've used ribbon on my card which I rarely do on men's cards. All I did was tie a small knot either side of my topper. I made a tag (I'm calling it that but I'm sure there's another word for it!) and threaded it through a die cut made using a SB die. Then I just added a few gems - job done!

I'm off blog hopping now -something else I've lapsed on....until next time....Lea x

Birthday card

Hi my blogger friends

Well the blog writing fairy hasn't touched me with her blogging fairy dust. I know this because my blogging head just isn't back yet. Methinks it's still on its Christmas hols! Still I suppose I'm not the only one. It's daft coz I've more time than ever at the moment. I'm still a work in progress health wise and am signed off from work till the 31st March. I'm hoping I can shake this awful feeling off soon. The kids at school must think I've fell off the planet. I have no idea how I'd feel or be if I didn't have my crafting and the good friends I'm lucky enough to have.

Anyway I've got a ton of cards to make for February so will be fairly busy for the next few weeks. A friend ordered this 30th birthday card....

I've tried to capture this card from all angles. The first pic is the front of the card. As it is a gatefold card it has been worked on inside. The sentiment was computer generated.  All the other elements are from the Fabulous Fashion Cd which I adore but haven't done much with. The dress inside is decoupaged but this pic doesn't do it justice. I added purple ribbon and pink and purple gems to finish...hope you like it....Lea x

Birthday cake

Hello everyone

A happy new year to you all out there in Blogland. I hope you all had a fab Christmas and New Year. Mine was lovely, spent with my family. I'm now trying to get my act together and start blogging properly again. I've actually made a card today too!

My card was made using a free stamp set I got with a crafting magazine. I also got free papers too so I used them too. The papers were a little flat so I used my new fandabidosie ebosser to emboss them with a flowery embossing flower. I used a circle die to cut the cake out and backed it onto a doily. I embellished with flowers and ribbon that matched the papers. Job done!

I'm not going blog hopping to see what you guys are up to. See you there...Lea x
