Memories and.......sheep!!!

Hi all

Sorry I've been awol for a bit. I've had a lovely time in the warm. We've been to Crete where all I did was lie on a sun bed by a pool reading (the most amazing comfy sun beds I've ever seen!).  Although travelling is quite hard on my legs the warmth when I get there definitely helps the pain. It is well worth the effort. The journey went very smooth so that helped loads. The apartments we stayed in were stunning and extremely comfy. It was really lovely to see Mr B relax.

While I was away I noticed I have gained a couple of more followers so a huge welcome to them. I am always very grateful for such lovely comments. Thank you to Kathy Black and Sandra Carey who have done giveaways recently - I was very lucky to be picked to receive a prize from them. I was also lucky enough to win a prize from Dawn Barwicks blog a few weeks ago too...you know what they say about things coming in threes! Thank you ladies....I'm very grateful.

Right now to my card. It has been all of my children's birthdays recently. I've been holding on to blog their cards. This card was for my beautiful daughter Vikki. We have a bit of a family joke going back to when she was a child (she's now 35). She was one of these children that was always crying....once when we went out with my parents walking in a field full of sheep we threatened to leave her with the sheep (wicked parents and grandparents we were!). Ever since we've always had a thing about sheep with her. When I saw these fab stamps from Clearly Besotted I knew I had to have them. They are just so cute. I started by backing white corrugated card onto black and grey. I stamped all the sheep and coloured parts of them with promarkers. I added a bit of bakers twine, a bow and gems.

Well that's me done...have a good day folks....Lea x

Christmas jumpers!

Hi all

This will be a short post as I am somewhere nice and warm at the moment. Thank you for the lovely comments on my last post. I have popped round your blogs very quickly...I apologise if my comments are short and sweet. They were written while I waited for Mr  B to beautify himself to go out lol.

This card is one I found I hadn't  blogged yet so thought it could finally see the light of day. It's made with a mixture of stamps..the jumper is from Hobby Art and was stamped onto different coloured papers and a few little bits added. I did interchange the necks and ribbed bottoms. The wording is a Woodware stamp and the son is from Clearly Besotted. The papers I believe were from an old Craftwork cards pack and were backed into cream card. I finished with some tiny pearls.

That's me done for today. Have fun folks....Lea x

18!

Hi everyone

A short post from me tonight. Sorry I've been awol for a few days....I've been a misery guts as I had to have a biopsy done in my mouth on Wednesday and my mouth has been a bit sore...I'd been referred to the hospital by my dentist and having a biopsy was a bit unexpected - I had to have stitches too! I get my results on 13th October so I'm just trying to put it out of my mind for now. I'm afraid this year just hasn't been my year - it's been one thing after another!

Change of subject...my card! This card was for my nephew who is 18 next week. He's already opened it as he had a little do today so it's safe to blog! I used tonic dies for the '18' and centre panel. The stars and balloons are Sapphire dies and are really useful for this kind of card. The wording is from a die I bought from The Range. I added a silver key to the bakers twine at the side and finished with a few black pearls.

Thank you for all your lovely comments and a big welcome to Sylvia a new follower. That's me for tonight folks....catch you again soon....Lea x

Friends

Hello everyone

I must admit it's been a couple of days since I blogged. Although I've not blogged I've tried to keep up with everyone else's blogs...if I've missed anyone I do apologise.

I've been thinking a lot about friends today. When I moved home to Northamptonshire I left some very dear friends back in Gloucester. I must admit I'm very, very lucky to have some amazing friends (both here and in Gloucester). I spent some time with three of my friends last week...I hadn't realised just how much I missed 'my girls'! Unfortunately this week it is back to normal. I made these cards with my friends in mind. I saw a similar card over on the Clearly Besotted blog - the post was from back in February 2013 (unfortunately I can't find the link) and I thought it was perfect for what I wanted to say.

The cards are all the same apart from the butterflies. This set has all different patterns of butterflies.  I backed a square of white card onto Kraft card. I stamped the sentiment which was a freebie from a magazine. I die cut the butterflies out and then messed a couple up when I tried to stamp them. I also then tried stamping then die cutting but couldn't line the die up properly (any tips would be gratefully received). Because the stamps aren't clear stamps it's really difficult to line it up. In the end I worked out that I should die cut then hover over the stamp with the butterfly and place it onto the inked stamp. Next time I may use low tack tape to attach the butterfly to my stamping tool then stamp it. I finished each butterfly with green gems. I'm pleased with them anyway....Lea x

Christmas snowflakes

Hi all

I hope you've had a good weekend. Mine has been very quiet....I've not done much at all. My cards are Christmas cards. I feel very different about both of them.

The first card has the same snowflakes and little buttons as the second card. The gnome and sentiment are stamps by Lisa Horton. His hat has been coloured with promarkers and a little stickles was added after. Red card was used and some green corrugated card added to the red. I tied a piece of seam binder ribbon down one side to finish and added a little button to the knot. I'm quite a bit happier with this card than my second card.

I decided to show this second card even though I can see a lot wrong with it. It's quite funny how you can make a card  and think it's ok then as soon as you look at a photo of it you're not quite so enthralled with it.

I backed some red card onto white then glued it onto a Kraftcard base. I embossed some white card with a Sue Wilson folder and cut it into squares. I added the snowflakes which were from The Range last year. I added little tiny gold buttons which I had cut off an old shirt. I stamped a sentiment onto red card and backed it onto white card. Now for my problem with the card - I should've added some black mats under the red layer and under the snowflake squares. It would've made such a difference to the look of the card.

Thank you for all the lovely comments on my posts. I am very grateful that you take time out of your busy lives to come by....Lea x

Christmas wreathe

Hi everyone

Hope you've all had a fab bank holiday weekend...it's seems to go very quick. It's the only time I get any real time with Mr B at home and it always flies by. Mr B has spent the weekend relaying slabs in the garden....the poor old thing is shattered!

My card is a Christmas card. I used silver, white and blue card for the layers. The wreathe is made from lots of layers of silver and white and using a Tonic die..the die doesn't look much to start off but using lots of layers changes it completely. I used an LOTV stamp for the sentiment. The poinsettia die is my favourite Christmas die and I use it all the time on Christmas cards. I finished with loads of blue gems and silver ribbon which I made a band with and a bow for the wreathe.

Thanks for coming by and for taking time out to write such lovely comments....Lea x

Watercolour poppy

Hi everyone...thanks for coming by and for your lovely comments...it's much appreciated.

I backed some pink card onto black (always a lovely mix). I inked through an Inkyliscious circle mask and then stamped the outline to the Inkylicious water colour poppy stamp in black - I then stamped the second part of the stamp in pink to give the watercolour petal look. I used two different stamps for the wording...the make escapes me. This was backed onto black. I added a string of gems and pearls to finish. I quite like the simplicity of this one...I must admit I love poppies.....Lea X

Woodware flower

Hi everyone

I'm keeping this post short short today. I stamped my flower on another background piece I had left from my play with the Chalk clouds. Even though I coloured the petals and leaves with Promarkers you can still see the inked part. I backed this onto black and pink card. I embossed a white piece of card with the dahlia folder by Sue Wilson. I ran some pink ribbon and bakers twine down the centre of the embossed piece and die cut a butterfly. All of this was placed onto pink and black card. I finished with gems and sparkly corners by Creative Expressions. Thanks for coming by and for your lovely comments.....Lea X

To bow or not to bow!!!

Hi all

I'll keep this quick this evening as I'm absolutely shattered tonight. I had a small piece of card left from the other day that had a bit of texture on. I stamped this lovely stamp from Woodware on it with a clear embossing ink and heat embossed it in gold. In case you hadn't noticed I love Woodware stamps especially flower ones! I then sponged Chalk clouds very loosely to colour the flowers and leaves - I then lifted some of the Chalk clouds with a water brush to lighten some areas. I used a pink to colour all round the edges. I also gold embossed the wording. I backed this and a layer of white onto a pretty dark pink mirror card. This was then added to a long card blank and gems were added to finish. I have made a couple of different bows - I was going to add one to the left side of the card but the jury is out on this at the moment. I'd be interested in your thoughts.

Thanks for coming by and for your lovely comments....Lea X

So chuffed!

Good morning all

I hope this finds you all well. Thank you for your lovely comments on my posts...I am very grateful that you take time out of your busy lives to pop by. I am trying to stay on top of visiting your blogs, if I've missed you please give me a kick up the proverbial you know what and steer me in your direction.

I am very pleased with my card today. My eldest son has been away so his lovely girlfriend Evie stayed with me and Mr B over the last couple of nights. As you can imagine it was crafting heaven for me having someone who enjoys doing what I do....we do help and encourage each other a lot when we craft together.

I know a lot of people have been using the Ranger oxides but Evie and I have both invested in Creative Expressions Chalk clouds...and we both love them. They are very easy to blend and to stamp with. I started by embossing some white card with a linen effect embossing folder and backed this onto black. I then blended a piece of white card with Cozy Clay, Terracotta and Vanilla Twist Chalk Clouds (colours chosen by Evie). I then sprayed water into my hands and flicked it over the card and mopped up the spots. I used a stamp from Stamp addicts to give the mottled effect - a very useful stamp which just adds a bit of texture. The flower stamp is from Honey Doo crafts (I love their products) and I stamped this with a black Versafine ink...the little fairies are from Inkylicious also stamped in black - I like the Versfine stamp as it is a really dark black. I do use Momento ink pads a lot but I don't find the black gives a clear enough image for me. I decided the image needed something else so I took the terracotta Chalk cloud and lightly blended it through an oval mask. I trimmed the image down and backed it onto black then put some pads on the back - I then offset this to one side of some more white card on black. I added some yellow ribbon to the other side. I finished with the wording and pearls from The Hobbyhouse that matched beautifully.

I must admit I am quite chuffed with how this turned out.  I have to say thank you to all you lovely blogging buddies as without you sharing your makes I wouldn't understand where to start with a card  like this. I have been really inspired lately by the ladies on the Honeydoo Design team....I also really love watching Julia Watts who is very good at demonstrating how to make backgrounds. It has shown me not only can I do 'my' style of cards but that I can dip into other styles too.

Right I've finished rabbiting now....must go....catch you again soon....Lea X

Ps You haven't seen Evie's card yet - watch this space! X

30th birthday card

Hi all

Hope this finds you all well....I've had a quiet day today while Mr B has been to watch Tottenham play (unfortunately they lost!). Lucky Mr B went with our youngest son who I miss loads now we've moved...hes 24 but will always be my baby....we unfortunately don't get to see him much...life gets in the way unfortunately.

While scouring my iPad today I found a load of cards I'd never blogged...lots of Christmas cards from last year and this card was another I found...it's a card I made for my nephew. When I made this card it took me ages because of all the little details. The 30 was stamped and embossed in gold and coloured with a Promarker. I used a Crafters Companion embossing folder to give the White card some oomph. The different coloured layers came from my stash. The balloon and star die cuts are made from Sapphire dies...they're a very useful set of dies. The candles were handmade. I rolled some of the matching papers with some twine through the middle to make them. The wording was from a Woodware set of stamps. I finished with some twine from The Range and some yellow gems. I must confess I was extremely pleased with this card. I've got an 18th card to make soon...I'm thinking of doing something similar....Lea X

Anniversary card

Evening everyone

Hope you're all well. I'm not having a particularly good day today....I've been suffering quite a lot of pain over the last few days and my tremor is playing me up big time...I've actually thrown a scalding cup of tea over my leg tonight...ouch!!! I do try not to moan about things as I'm a big believer that there's always many, many more people in a worst position than me but I'm afraid I've been a bit of a moaning min to Mr B and whinged a lot today! Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day hey...I feel a nice crafty day coming up 😄. I'm a bit gutted actually as I had some new stamps delivered today and I was going to play with them tomorrow. Unfortunately the delivery company decided to throw them over the gate as I was at an appointment and it rained on them....the carrier sheets were completely ruined so the whole lot are being replaced. Arrgggghhhh!!!

My card today is one I gave to Mr B for our anniversary. It started off as a small card but I got carried away with the layers. The flowered heart was made by stamping some small flowers through a heart shaped template. The wording was from Altenew. One of the layers of blue was embossed with an SB embossing folder. I used white and blue card to build the layers up and finished with some blue gems.

Well that's me for today...until next time...Lea X

My favourite.....so far!

Hi everyone

Gosh I am doing very well so far...I think that's four or five days on the trot I've managed to blog.....and guess what it's another Christmas card. Although I do say so myself I think this is my favourite so far. I backed some lovely pink card from the Hobbyhouse onto white card. I don't know if you've ever used the chalk clouds inks by Creative Expressions, well they are fab. I used a pink and a purple one and blended them onto some white card - I then splattered them with water and dabbed it off. This was the first time I'd tried this and I was really pleased with how it turned out. I trimmed this down and backed it onto white card and used foam pads to give it dimension and stuck it onto the other pieces of card I'd already prepared. I'm not convinced my layers are very straight as I had huge problems with my tremor making this card - all adds to the fun lol! I added the Creative Expressions snowflake again (do you get the feeling I like this?) and then cut out the wording and added that - the word dies are from Tonic. I finished with some matching pearls from the Hobbyhouse.

As I said I really am pleased with this colour way.....Lea X

Red and white Christmas

Hi all

Hope you are well. Thank you for all your lovely comments on my posts....unfortunately I have lost quite a few as I have changed the settings on my blog - it was set to google+ and a few people couldn't comment so I've had a play and am hoping what I've done will make a difference. If you think you've commented and it's not there it's not you cracking up!

Today's card is another Christmas card. This time last year I was part of a challenge to make a Christmas card every week so had six months worth of Christmas cards under my belt...unfortunately circumstances have conspired against me this year and this is only number four! Heyho onwards and upwards.

My card is made with Creative Expression dies. I've left quite a lot of white space round the edge of my card. The larger background die is from Sue Wilson's Indonisian collection and isn't a Christmas die but it just works with everything...it's very pretty. I backed it onto white card and then red. I cut out a white square using the same set and put this on foam pads. I then added the Christmas wording...this die cuts beautifully and comes out of the die very easily. I finished with some silver pearls.

Until tomorrow everyone...take care...Lea x

Christmas again!

Hi all

Hope this finds you well. I've been busy with the Christmas cards again. These two cards are very simple and a good batch make. I've used yesterday's Sue Wilson snowflake die. I cut the larger snowflake along with the small one and layered them onto the backing card - I then put this onto Kraftcard blanks. I can't believe how different the cards look when you change the colour way. The 'Merry Christmas' stamp is from a very useful set by Creative Expressions. I then added pearls to finish......Lea X

A start on Christmas!

Hi all

Lovely to have you here again...thank you for visiting yesterday and for your lovely comments.

Well last year I was so on the ball with my Christmas cards and this year I am so far behind! Today was the day I decided to get a grip and make some. I actually made four but I'll just show the one today...I've got to draw them out in case I don't craft tomorrow 😂.

I've used a mixture of dies - I even used the waste from a die. I started by using a gorgeous snowflake die from Sue Wilson - I cut the snowflake out of the White card. I trimmed the waste up and backed it onto red card. I then turned the snowflake and placed it on top of the waste. This was then glued to the white hammered effect card blank. The 'Merry Christmas' die is a Tonic one and is in two parts...one for the wording and one to cut out a back bit. I finished with just a few gems.

Hope you'll pop by again tomorrow for the next card....thanks....Lea x

Flowers

Hello all

I hope you're well. Thank you for the lovely comments on my blog....it's really kind of you to come by. I'm trying hard to keep up with visiting everyone's blogs so I hope I haven't missed anyone.

I've been playing again today trying out something different. The stamps I've used are from Altenew. I cut two different sizes of white card and made black mats to match. I stamped my flowers and leaves onto the two layers of white. I used a little low tack tape to keep the two layers together so they didn't move when I stamped the different layers of flowers. I then stuck the stamped pieces to the black card and added sticky pads to the smaller layer before carefully lining up the image. I added a butterfly, sentiment (also from Altenew) and black pearls to finish.

I don't like the darker green leaves so would do those differently next time....Lea x

New Baby - youngest meets the oldest!

Good evening everyone

I hope this finds you well. I'm pleased to say the sun came back to play today and it's been lovely. The sun being out just makes you feel so much better.

Thank you for your lovely comments on my posts. I really am very grateful for your feedback. I've been trying to keep on top of my commenting.....I hope I haven't missed anyone..if I have I apologise!

I'm showing you two cards today..both new baby cards. My nephew and his partner had a little baby boy a couple of weeks ago. I usually try to make personalised cards when new babies are born - I really like making this kind of card. On the first card the wording was PC generated. The baby details were cut out with a round die and backed onto an SB loopy circles die cut. The blue backing paper was from LOTV along with the little baby boy (I cut this out with my ScanNCut). These were backed onto blue card from my stash. I added a band of blue ribbon and lace. The pearl corners are from Creative Expressions. I finished with some blue gems, pearls and a bow.

The second card also has an LOTV image on it. This time I didn't cut the baby out....I kept the rectangle shape and backed it into white card. This was backed onto a panel that had been embossed with a folder on one half and hand embossed on the other half using an embossing board. This was then put onto black and white panels. A band of yellow ribbon was added as well as a yellow bow. Attached to the bow is  a little silver pram charm. The card was finished with a sentiment from LOTV and some matching coloured pearls from The Hobbyhouse.

I'm finishing with a photo of my Mum and the new baby....literally the oldest member of our family meeting the youngest member of the family.....Lea X

My Favourite Things!

Hi all

Before I explain my card I'd just like to say thank you to my lovely blogging buddies for their lovely words when I am feeling down about my dad. It's very comforting knowing people understand what I'm saying. It's not a situation I would wish on anybody.

On a lighter note my card is quite a cutie and it was a joint effort with my son's girlfriend. We were playing around together with some new dies and stamps from My Favourite Things. Evie did the stamping and colouring and I did the layering for the card. The star die was actually a round one which we made to fit the square Peek a boo stitched die. The hippo was coloured using promarkers and the star die cut was coloured using the new Creative Expressions colour chalk clouds which I love. We finished with a few pearls.

The second card was made at a workshop with Julia Watts. The Paris stamp was a Woodware one. It was stamped with clear versafine and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I then blended three different coloured chalk clouds on the image. The background was made using a stencil and colour clouds. I used a stamp from Altenew for the sentiment and finished with pearls and some bakers twine.

Well that's me done today. Until next time folks, take care....Lea X

Golden Wedding Card

Good evening all

Hope you are well in Blogland. The weekend has flown - I can't believe how quickly this year is going too.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments on previous posts. I am always extremely grateful that you take the time to pop by.

Today's card is a Golden Wedding card I made for my lovely Auntie. It was a pleasure to make this one as my Auntie Kathryn has been so supportive to me since my Dad died. She is my Mums youngest sister and is only 12 years older than me so we get on very well. This card was quite difficult to photograph as it had a lot of gold mirror card on it. The heart dies are from Tonic while the leaf dies are from Sue Wilson. The sentiment was PC generated and I just used lots of layers as usual all backed onto gold. I added a band of yellow ribbon with lace and some flowers from my stash. I'm not sure where the Rose paper is from.....sorry! I also made a matching box to go with the card. I finished with pearls and gold coloured gems. Now I know things should be done in 3s, 5s, 7s etc but I've decided I quite like the look of just the two gems on my corners....maybe it will be my new signature....Lea X

A monochrome triple whammy!

Hi everyone

I know it's been a few days but I've been in a funny mood. Since my Dad died I tend to be a bit up and down....sometimes I can just sit for hours thinking.....others well, others my head is together and I craft. I've really been in a mish mash crafting mood, not really making anything for any particular occasion and do you know what.....I've really enjoyed it! The black and white stamped image on these three cards are from a Imagination crafts stamp. I stamped these images months ago and they've been sat on my desk. On my first card I cut the image down and backed it onto black. I then used a scrap of white embossed card and backed that onto black then layered them all up. The flower is made from a tattered lace die. I finished with a small dazzler. I'll add a sentiment later.

On the second card I put a piece of adhesive sheet on the image and then covered it with Cosmic Shimmer diamond sparkle. I love this glitter as its so fine and just gives a very subtle shine. I backed this onto black card. I then backed a piece of white card on black then layered them up. I will eventually add a sentiment and gems to this one too.

The third card was a bit of a faff. I backed the image onto black card. I then cut out a frame using some embossed card. Im afraid I flattened the embossing when cutting it so I had to carefully realighn the card into the embossing folder (I told you it was a faff 😳 lol!) and put it through my machine again. Then I backed this on black and layered them up like the other cards. I did lift the frame onto pads so the card wasn't flat. Again a sentiment and maybe black flowers will be added later.

I did enjoy making these cards and they didn't take too long. Note to oneself though....emboss the frame after you've cut it in future.

The first two cards were 6 X 6 cards and the third one 7 X 7. I've decided I really quite like a bit of white space left round the edge of my cards...could be a new thing for me.....Lea x

Version 2

Hi all

Hope you're all well. It's been quite a nice day today...the sun actually showed its face!

I've been busy making a card with another background I made yesterday. I used the same stamps as yesterday....it amazes me how using different coloured ink can make a card that looks so different. I changed the layers slightly too although I still used black and white card.

I finished with pearls from The Hobbyhouse. I love the colours these come in.....Lea x

Something a bit different!

Hi everyone

Well it's been a few days. I apologise for not making it round very many blogs the last few days but after this I'm off for some visits!

My card today is something a bit different for me. I put some inks onto my glass craft mat then sprayed them with water. I took a piece of watercolour card and 'smooshed' it through the ink and ended up with this lovely background. I then dried it off with my heat tool before using my stamping tool to stamp these gorgeous Woodware flower stamps and the sentiment from Creative Expressions. I used a couple of blue Promarker pens to highlight the petals of the flowers. I trimmed and mounted the background onto black and white card. I finished with some coordinating pearls from The Hobbyhouse.

I'm probably going to add a little black bakers twine down the side. I am very pleased with this card...I've already got a different coloured background ready for the next card......Lea x
